Update on the Nick Nairn Cook School
Nick set up the Nick Nairn Cook School in April 2000 with one very simple aim: to get more people cooking by giving people the skills necessary to be able to turn great raw ingredients into great food.
At the start of the pandemic, we were forced to close. We tried to reopen several times, but constantly changing regulations and government advice scuppered our efforts at every turn. In February 2021, we had a second set back - the Cook School venue flooded. So, the Cook School itself is currently under refurbishment, and we're hoping it will be repurposed and ready to go by early 2022.
We've given a great deal of thought toward how we can reopen the Cook School in a COVID-19 safe way, while still giving you the full Cook School experience. Our refurbishment will make fundamental changes to the kitchen layout, and the number of guests will also be reduced. We’re getting busy with these changes now, please bear with us as we recover and rebuild. We are truly grateful for your ongoing support and patience. We know a lot of you have had dates in the diary cancelled and gift cards still to be used. Please be rest assured that we will honour all gift vouchers - regardless of expiry dates - when we reopen.
We look forward to welcoming you when we can, and in the meantime, please come and see us in the Cook School building, for a look around our Cook Shop and a dining experience like no other at Nicks at Port of Menteith.
